Stress that is controlled at a low level for each of us can
be a good thing. For example, job interest increases
ambition, competitiveness and overall well being. The
toleration of stress can be managed by each of us to drive
us without it having a negative impact. Meditation is a
worth while tool for decreasing stress and managing stress.

Stress can be caused by external factors such as a
difficult boss or a job that places too many demands on us.
Driving in heavy traffic to and from work, dealing with
crowds, working late, dealing with the unknown may not
cause unreasonable stress for some, while for others may
cause stress that pushes them over the top and over what
they can reasonably deal with. Meditation is one way of
helping people deal with the stress and lowers the impacts
of stress as well.

The impacts of stress can be both psychological and
physical. If we push ourselves too hard with too much
stress we may burn out and not be able to function under
even small amounts of stress. We may also cause our bodies
to aggressively fight back when there is no way to release
the energy and the tension. This sort of thing can over
time cause stress related heart attacks and other illnesses
that are triggered by too much stress. Regular meditation
and exercise can help you deal with the stress in your life
whether it is self generated or generated by external
factors in your life.

Meditating, relaxing and thinking about soothing thoughts
will automatically drop the amount of stress that you are
holding onto. For 20 - 30 minutes finding a place where you
can't be annoyed is the key. Comfort and no distractions
are the other key factors to ensure a successful
meditation. Additional stress like your leg becoming stiff
with no doubt will interrupt your meditation so make sure
you are very comfortable when you meditate.

Focusing on something soothing in your life, while closing
your eyes and sitting comfortable, pushes out all of the
stress thoughts away and you begin to think of good
thoughts. Of course, this all takes practice, but after
time it does become easier.

After practicing meditation on a regular basis it will
become habit to simply set aside a time each day, whether
it be in the morning or after work to meditate and relax.
The thoughts that are contenting will decrease stress and
control the level of stress that each person has.
